He is the wisest who seeks God
he is the most successful who has found God.

Devotees of the Ft. Lauderdale Meditation Group

Brother Mokshananda was visiting South Florida when he enquired if there was an SRF presence in the area. Ofcourse there wasn't one. He enquired if any of the devotees were willing to start a group. Two most spirited devotees of the Master, Anne Zoellner and another member, volunteered the great cause. Hence, Fort Lauderdale Meditation Group was founded in 1976. Eventually Ms. Barbara Broadhurst joined the group. She served the group for over 20 years.

The challenges were many. A place to assemble, meditate and commune with the divine was among the foremost of the needs. Master always used to say, "where there is sincerity and devotion, things always happen by grace".

The first location chosen for the purpose, was a community room in Atlantic Bank [now Bank Atlantic near McNab and Federal]. The group also met at different devotees homes. Then the Group moved to South East Bank and formed a relationship with the Arthur Murry Dance Studio. They moved around to several other locations over the years until the last location in the Galt Ocean Mile area in Fort Lauderdale in 1994.

In 1994 Fields and Deanna Burke returned from building a retreat for two Tibetan monks in the North East. Field's parents Joe and Barbara Burke graciously donated a large part of their residence to be used for the divine purpose, which is the current Fort Lauderdale Meditation Group. Brother Dharmananda gave his blessings before the start of the project.

Today we are a happy group of over 50 devotees. The grace of the Master has always been with us..Your participation and presence makes our family a large and a happy one.
